Meet Janine Browne. I first stumbled upon her Wisdom of Rose and it became my treasured book always in my bag ready to be picked up at a random page to put things into perspective when life gets a bit overwhelming. Janine doesn’t like to be seen but would rather let her characters do the talking.
Meet Dhruv Grover. Dhruv has been working in his family business at the Fremantle Markets next to our Collab store for many years. We live and breathe Freo for 3 days every week there. We talk about India whenever the day quietens down. Managing his own design career, the family business as well a young marriage is one thought that brings me back to the early ANJELMS years and I thought this project would be an ideal escape.
Meet Belen Bergenza. Belen is an incredible Fremantle ceramic artist from Spain. Since we first met 5 years ago when she brought her creations to our Collab store, we have become great friends and worked on may creative collaborations from her art installation for our Fair trade conference to her jewellery collection for our Game Changer collection and her stint as an ANJELMS model.
Meet Anette Wiguna. Annette and I have neighbouring studios at The Fremantle Fibonacci Centre. Annette is the quiet artist who can create magic through so many mediums that she constantly inspires me. Her love of experimenting, recycling, using discarded materials is one we always connect over from plants, to rusty tools or our damaged clothing. I am feel blessed to be constantly learning from her from eco dyeing to felting but most of all our chats at the studio on our next projects and life in general are ones I cherish.
Meet Tomeo. I have been working side-by-side with Tomeo since she took over the café next to our Store @ Fib at the Fremantle Fibonacci Centre. Tomeo and her team at Hinata Café have brought so much life into our world and she has created a beautiful sanctuary for all the artists at the Fib and a meeting place for our customers nurturing us with her amazing traditional Japanese food. Most of all I love our daily chats, sharing our life experiences as mothers, migrants and small business owners. Her amazing spirit inspires me every day and I love learning everyday about Japanese culture and the wonderful Japanese community in Fremantle.
Meet Sonia Beato. I met Sonia, originally from Portugal when she bought our wooden blocks for her ceramics creations. She has since been making stunning necklaces mixing ceramic beads and our recycled Sari silk. Sonia is a generous soul who has been so supportive of ANJELMS and has featured as a model in our Hands On collection. Our friendship is one filled with creativity, laughters and her love for celebrating the small moments in life.
