To ensure that your beautiful piece looking fresh and vibrant for many seasons to come we recommend following these simple care instructions:
Gentle Cold Wash - immerse your Anjelms piece in cold water and gently hand wash it. If a washing machine is used, wash with similar colours and cold gentle cycle are recommended. A slight shrinkage (2.5% - 3.5%) and a soft, supple fabric after a few washes are to be expected.
Air Dry in the Shade - after washing, avoid wringing it out to preserve the fabric quality and lay flat or hang it to air dry in a shaded area to prevent fading and protect the fabric from the harsh effects of direct sunlight.
Avoid Harsh Detergents - to preserve the integrity of the colors and material, opt for mild, gentle pH-neutral detergents that are suitable for delicate fabrics. Avoid bleach and ironing on a low setting only if necessary.

Naturally grown Organic Cotton – In Kachchh, farmers and weavers historically created durable, organic textiles from local cotton, part of India’s handwoven tradition. Khamir’s Kala Cotton Initiative promotes sustainable cotton and supports local livelihoods. After the 2001 earthquake, industrial growth increased prosperity but threatened traditional weaving, reducing weavers from over 2,000 in the 1990s to around 600-700 today, due to challenges in sourcing raw materials and market adaptation. This approach enhances the sustainability of cotton farming while simultaneously strengthening the resilience of farming communities in the face of climate change.
Artisan Empowerment through traditional skills – The Kala Cotton Initiative promotes eco-friendly cotton production by working with local communities and creating a supply chain that connects farmers, ginners, spinners, and weavers. This helps protect traditional crafts, sustain livelihoods, and develop a local value chain. Additionally, Kala cotton is now being registered as a trademark to support its recognition and preservation.
