The Art of Re-purposing: Hand Made Quilts

Nestled within the cozy layers of our quilts lies a story of innovative sustainability.

When tailoring for collections, fabric off-cuts inevitably accumulate—scraps that often go unused. We work with hand-spun and hand-woven Khadi Cotton, naturally dyed with precious plant materials that require immense skill, patience, and expertise. These off-cuts, though seemingly small are incredibly precious.

To honour the value of these scraps and ignite the creativity of our artisans at The Stitching Project, we invited our skilled stitchers to transform these puzzle pieces of fabric, into vibrant mosaics.

The result? The stunning Quilted pieces you see today—a fusion of contemporary design and traditional hand-stitching techniques. These textiles, displayed as hanging tapestries at our recent Stitching Stories exhibition, are true works of art.

At The ANJELMS Project, we believe that what we invest in matters. Our commitment to investing in items with meaningful stories not only empowers the makers but also enriches you, the buyer, with pieces that embody warmth and integrity. These textiles contribute to the well-being of the spaces they inhabit.
Choose textiles that support sustainable practices and celebrate the stories they carry.
