Sari Yarn
The Stitching Project looks through mountains of second-hand saris, to find the right colours. They burn a corner to see it is 100% silk. Then it is ripped into 3 cm wide strips and given to home Machine Ladies to machine into continuous yarn
The yarn is rolled into 100 gm balls.
Each ball has between 93 to 98 m yarn depending on the weight of saris used.
