Rachel Knit Men Shirt – White Squadron

Regular price $219.00
Taxes included. Shipping calculated at checkout.
Size Size chart XS

This Men Shirt is crafted in Breton workshops from a unique fabric known as "Rachel knit," which is renowned for its durability and flexibility. This material is designed to replicate the characteristics of the regulation sailor's jacket used by the French Navy.

The Rachel stitch, or "maille jetée," is a specialized technique that combines elements of knitting and weaving, resulting in an "indémaillable" stitch that is exceptionally robust. The tradition of using this fabric dates back to a decree in 1858, which codified the knitting standards for the national navy.

Model is 6ft. 1in. and wears a size L.

The fit of this sweater is snug, so if you're uncertain about sizing, we recommend opting for the larger size.

Made in France from 100% Merino Wool.

The long fibers of merino wool contribute to its highly appreciated softness, while also providing thermoregulating properties, anti-odour and easy to care for, ensuring practicality alongside style.

ARTISAN CRAFTMANSHIP

Le Minor is renowned worldwide for its authentic marinière, which has been 100% made in France since the 1970s. The men's striped sailor suit is thoughtfully designed, crafted, and finished in our local Breton workshop.

Ancestral Textile Art Preservation

With a legacy of serving the most demanding customers, including the French Navy— for whom it produced the officer's sweater for 40 years—Le Minor possesses a wealth of expertise that has been passed down through generations at its factory in Guidel, near Lorient.

Today, Le Minor continues to innovate and reinvent iconic Breton pieces, such as the sailor sweater and sailor's hat. This process involves the use of vintage machines that ensure the production of high-quality garments, requiring a unique and precise skill set. To preserve this ancestral art, the training of the new generation occurs in-house, allowing them to work directly with the machines and learn from the experienced seamstresses. This hands-on training is vital for maintaining the craftsmanship that defines Le Minor.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Immerse your Anjelms piece in cold water and gently hand wash it. If a washing machine is used, cold gentle cycle is recommended.

After washing, avoid wringing it out to preserve the delicate textile quality and lay it flat or hang to air dry in a shaded area to prevent fading and protect the fabric from the harsh effects of direct sunlight. Only iron on low heat.

To preserve the integrity of the colors and material, opt for mild, gentle pH-neutral detergents that are suitable for delicate fabrics.
